Frame 11 This is my mother's youngest cousin. She was 16 in 1959 and was becoming a pretty young woman. She was not feeling well that day. She is lying on grandpa and grandma's bed. This was probably on the Sunday after Mother's Day and the family had gathered there before attending the Decoration Day observance at the Lanty Cemetery. |
Frame 12 This is my father's memorial stone in the Lanty Cemetery. He was actually buried in a military cemetery in Manila. This is the only frame of this roll that I cropped during the scanning process. |
Frame 16 Negatives 13, 14, and 15 are missing. This is a view southeast across grandpa's grape vines and hay meadow. Round Mountain is blurry, but is visible on the horizon just to the right of center. In the 30 years since he died, the place has become covered by scrub trees, bushes, and cedars. I hope to clear it one day to restore the view. |
Frame 17 This location is difficult to recognize. It may be on SH95 at the foot of Wonderview Mountain. If so, it was taken in the late afternoon. The haze may actually be dust from the dirt road leading west from SH95. |
Frame 19 View across an old barbed wire fence into the woods. This might have been a good picture in color. |
Frame 20 A view into the woods. This is the last numbered frame on the roll. I think Kodak must have spooled film in 20-exposure lengths back then. I seem to remember when they went to 24 exposures. |
Final Frame The roll had one extra frame. This shows the texture of a freshly cut ditch bank beside the road. |
